Elk River at Maple Grove
4:15 p.m., Thursday, May 15

The top two teams in Class 3A were supposed to duke it out for conference and state supremacy earlier in the season, but in what was has become the norm this spring the game was pushed back because of inclement weather. Weather permitting, No. 2-ranked Elk River will play at No. 1 Maple Grove on Thursday.

Since the time these two were supposed to play, each has had a loss notched into their records. The defending state champion Elks have lost twice overall, including in their last game to Anoka last Friday. The Crimson are 12-1 and 10-0 in the Northwest Suburban Conference. With a win against Elk River they essentially lock down the conference title.

Maple Grove's only loss was to Eastview on May 3 and has ran off five straight wins since, including a tight one to a surprising Osseo squad, 2-1 last Friday.
