Rosemount at Prior Lake
4:15 p.m., Thursday, April 23

Stingy defense meets prolific offense as Prior Lake and Rosemount grapple at the top of the South Suburban Conference.

Lakers sluggers Justus Perry and Shaye Barton provide the power to an offense boasting 84 runs scored and six players with 10 or more hits. Barton has three home runs and 13 hits, while Perry has two homers and 12 hits. Dee Wibbens leads the team in hits with 15.

Barton went 3-for-4 with home run, two doubles and five RBI in a 16-1 rout of Mankato East on April 18.

Angela McBeain pitched five innings, giving up just two hits and one run while striking out three and walking none to notch her fourth win of the season.

Rosemount has emerged as a conference powerhouse after shutting out its first three opponents and edging defending conference champion Lakeville North 2-1 on April 15. The Irish, however, stumbled in their last game, a 1-0 loss at Roseville on April 18.

University of Tennessee recruit Gabby Sprang has been fantastic in the pitcher's circle for Rosemount, striking out 36 while giving up just one run and four hits in four starts. She's helped herself out at the plate, with two doubles and two RBI.

While the Irish haven't shown the power-hitting ability of Prior Lake, they wear down opposing pitchers by staying disciplined at the plate and stringing together singles.
