Waconia at New Prague
4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 23

After falling to eventual runners-up Maple Grove in the Class 3A state tournament quarterfinals last season, the Trojans have taken command in the Wright County Conference in their first year in the league behind a tight-knit group of seniors and sit atop the standings at 4-0. New Prague has outscored opponents 83-22 on its way to a 6-1 overall start.

The Trojans faltered in a 7-1 loss to Burnsville on April 11. Waconia faced Burnsville on the same day and showed some firepower in the 7-6 loss.

The Wildcats finished second in the Wright County standings last season, and are in position to vie for a top finish this year after starting 3-1 in league play.

Senior second basemen Kia Pankey has emerged as the team's offensive leader with two home runs and six RBI in her first 14 at-bats.
