Anoka at Irondale

Anoka looks to continue a hot streak as it takes on Northwest Suburban Conference newcomer Irondale.

The Tornadoes began their season with two consecutive shutouts, against Park Center and Totino-Grace, and beat conference rival Blaine 12-6 to improve to 3-0. Sophomore pitcher Amber Elliot struck out 12 batters in the victory over the Bengals.

Irondale is still adjusting to the new conference after being a perennial contender in the now-defunct North Suburban Conference. The Knights are 3-2 in the Northwest Suburban, losing to Elk River 1-0 and falling to Maple Grove 2-1.

Irondale has six seniors on the roster, including pitcher Maggie Schley who struck out 95 and posted a 1.20 ERA while finishing 15-5 last season.
