4:15 p.m., Thursday, April 30

Conference newcomer Shakopee challenges No. 3-3A Prior Lake as the teams battle to stay in the hunt for the South Suburban Conference title.

After Lakeville South derailed Prior Lake's eight-game winning streak, the Lakers (9-1, 4-1) returned to their winning ways with a 3-2, nine-inning comeback victory over Rosemount to start the week a half-game behind the league-leading Irish in the standings.

Seniors Ashlee Leech (.583) and Shaye Barton (.433) and juniors Justus Perry (.429) and Angela McBeain (.500) have combined for seven home runs, 16 doubles and 40 RBI.

After a dicey start to the season, Shakopee (7-5) posted five consecutive wins, including a 3-1 victory over No. 4-ranked Lakeville North on April 22. With a 5-2 league record, the Sabers enter the week trailing Rosemount, also by just a half-game in the standings.

Shakopee senior Halle Erickson is batting .405 with seven doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI.
