Rosemount can't afford to lose as it battles red-hot Shakopee for the South Suburban Conference title.

Sophomore pitcher Gabby Sprang is 6-1 in her last seven outings, allowing just four runs during the stretch. The Tennessee commit is backed by senior shortstop Nichole Johnson, who hit a home run in the 6-0 win over Burnsville on April 30 and had two hits in the 3-0 win over Farmington on May 6.

The Cougars are further behind in the conference standings and in the Class 3A rankings then they were at this point last season, but they are capable of putting together a long winning streak and replicate their run to the state tournament.

Lakeville South's six-game winning streak from April 27-May 2 was snapped by a 11-6 loss to Farmington on May 4. The Cougars followed that defeat with another, dropping 5-0 decision to No. 11-3A Eastview one day later.
