Shakopee at Eastview
5 p.m., Wednesday, May 13

Shakopee has won 12 of its last 13 games since beginning the season with one victory in its four games, but the Sabers haven't cracked the Class 3A top-10 rankings despite a 12-5 overall record.

Shakopee is No. 18 in the coaches poll and No. 1 in the South Suburban Conference standings at 9-2 thanks to the play of junior pitcher Taylor Koenen, who boasts a 7-1 record with 42 strikeouts and a 2.28 ERA.

Koenen went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in a 8-3 win over Visitation on May 6.

No. 11-3A Eastview (15-3, 8-3) is vying with Shakopee and No. 12-3A Rosemount (11-6, 8-2) for the South Suburban title. The Lightning have won 11 consecutive after losing back-to-back games to the Sabers and the Irish in mid-April, and they remain within striking distance of the pair in the standings with one game against each left to play.

Eastview defeated No. 18-3A Lakeville South 5-0 on May 6, its most recent conference victory. Senior pitcher Kerrigan Hoshaw allowed just two hits and struck out seven in throwing the complete-game shutout. She has a 15-3 record with 112 strikeouts and a 0.34 ERA.
