Becker at Elk River
4:30 p.m., Thursday, May 14

A 7-0 loss to Rogers on May 8 was the sixth setback in a row for Elk River, which dropped from No. 7 to No. 10 in the Class 3A rankings after going winless in the first week of May.

With No. 1-3A Maple Grove (15-2, 12-0) and No. 3-3A Anoka (15-0-1, 11-0-1) unbeaten atop the conference standings, the Elks (9-7, 8-3) can't afford to continue their slide with only four games remaining -- including league matchups with the Tornadoes on May 11 and Blaine on May 13.

Junior pitcher Olivia Wolters went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI in Elk River's last win, a 9-0 rout of Totino-Grace on April 29.

Becker's only blemish is a 1-0 loss to Park Center on May 2. Since then, the Bulldogs (16-1, 11-0) have five straight wins and seem to be back on track. In an 11-1 win over Monticello on May 5, Becker senior third baseman Lindsey Lorette was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.
