Behind returning pitchers Taylor Sloat and Grace Worwa, and Toledo commit Brittney Davis at third base, Champlin Park will figure into the conversation as a contender in the Northwest Suburban Conference and Class 4A, Section 5.

The Rebels (0-2, 0-2) have dropped 3-2 games to Osseo and Maple Grove to start the season, though, and are looking for the year's first win. Things don't get any easier on the schedule with trips to Coon Rapids and Class 3A, Section 6 runner-up Hopkins this week.

The Royals (2-2, 1-0), who also won the Lake Conference last year, and have a difficult schedule of their own with matchups against Eden Prairie, Rosemount and Maple Grove looming over the next few weeks.
