Elk River started the season 7-0 but lost to No. 5-4A Woodbury and No. 6-4A Rogers at the Lakeville North Panther Classic on Saturday.

The No. 15-4 Elks (7-2, 5-0) rely on senior pitcher Olivia Wolters, who is hitting .346, Minnesota State commit Marie Deaton for leadership while mixing talented underclassmen into the lineup, including eighth-grade catcher Jess Weisgram (.600 batting average), sophomore Haley Ullrich and freshman shortstop Shelby Novotny.

Poepping has 4-2 record with a 1.83 ERA with 62 strikeouts in 42 innings in the pitcher's circle for Totino-Grace. She is also hitting .565 with six RBI.

Lindsay Mayo leads the No. 8-3A Eagles (5-2, 2-2) with seven RBI.
