Chisago Lakes at Rogers
4:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 3

Rogers dropped its first game of the year on Saturday, falling to No. 16-4A North St. Paul 6-2 at the Lakeville North Panther Classic.

The No. 6-4A Royals, however, regrouped for an important 4-1 win over Class 4A, Section 8 opponent and No. 15-ranked Elk River to close out the tournament.

Rogers has maintained a spot in the Class 4A rankings behind the play of senior pitcher Katelyn Kemmetmueller. The Minnesota commit earned victories in her first six starts and has a 0.37 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 38 innings. She’s also hitting .536 with nine RBI in eight games.

Emily Hanford leads Rogers (9-1, 7-0) with 12 RBI and Kaitlynn Lloyd has driven in 11 runs.

Chisago Lakes expects to compete for a Class 3A, Section 7 title this year after defeating No. 10-3A Hermantown 6-5 earlier in the season.

The No. 13-3A Wildcats haven’t found much success in the Mississippi 8 Conference yet, but nearly knocked off Blue Division frontrunner and No. 12-4A-ranked Buffalo in a 3-2 loss on April 21.

A win over the Royals would provide a big boost - in the standings and in confidence - for Chisago Lakes (6-6, 1-4).
