Expect a pitcher’s duel when Buffalo’s Morgan DeMarais and Spring Lake Park’s Halley Jones square off.

DeMarais is 2-0 with a 1.62 ERA and has 17 strikeouts after the Bison (2-0, 2-0) posted a 14-1 win over Big Lake on April 6 and knocked off rival Rogers 7-4 on April 7.

The Panthers (1-1) started the season with an 8-1 win over Edina on April 5 but followed that with a 3-2 loss against St. Michael-Albertville on April 7.

Jones is committed to Nebraska-Omaha and was a Star Tribune all-metro second team selection last season after leading Spring Lake Park to its first ever state tournament. She finished 2016 with a 12-8 record, a 1.68 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched.

The Panthers bowed out in two games at the Class 4A state tournament and finished with a 16-11 record.
