Medford’s softball field won’t be empty all season, but there won’t be any varsity games played there. The Tigers had to cancel the varsity portion of the season due to low numbers.

MEDFORD — Season previews are geared to give the reader a brief glimpse into what a team lost from the season before, who the key returners are, and what was done in the offseason to ensure a better record this year. For the Medford softball team, those explanations are brief. So brief, in fact, that there is nothing there. Just like the Tigers' schedule.

Medford will not be fielding a varsity team this year due to low numbers and the likelihood that the young Tigers would not be able to compete. The Tigers have only one senior on the roster, Krista Krogh, and zero juniors. Add in three sophomores and the decision to drop the varsity portion of the schedule is a no-brainer.
