Kasson-Mantorville recovered from a slow start to earn a spot in the Class 2A championship. The Komets put togther two three-run innings to defeat Hermantown 6-1 in Thursday evening's Class 2A semfinals at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
The Komets were retired in order in the first two innings before their first spurt of offense. Danielle Head walked twice and scored twice. Cori Kennedy had a pair of hits and walked.
Hermantown's lone run came in the fourth when Jillayne Gilbert led off the inning with a single and later scored.

Brooke Paradise's three-run home run in the third inning would have been enough for Kasson-Mantorville. The Komets shut out St. Anthony VIllage 5-0 in Thursday morning's Class 2A quarterfinals at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
Kasson-Mantorville scored two more in the seventh to provide a cushion for pitcher Maddie Damon. The sophomore starter gave up just four hits and struck out 10 in the complete-game victory.
Mary-Clare Couillard had a pair of hits for St. Anthony Village.

Hermantown scored runs in four different innings to comfortably advance past Pequot Lakes 4-1 in Thursday morning's Class 2A quarterfinals at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
The Hawks scored runs in the first, second, fifth and sixth innings. They advance to face Kasson-Mantorville in the semifinals.

Five extra-base hits that included two home runs easily propelled New Ulm by Maple River, 12-0 in five innings in Thursday afternoon's Class 2A quarterfinals at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
Brittany Hoffmann was 3-for-3 with a home run and a pair of doubles for New Ulm. Sarah Nelsen was 2-for-2 with a home run and a single.
Eagles pitcher Sydney Schuck gave up just one hit in five innings.
