Le Sueur-Henderson holds off Rockford

Le Sueur-Henderson held off Rockford 1-0 in the Class 2A semifinals on Thursday afternoon at Caswell Park in North Mankato.

Rockford pitcher Bria Majeski gave up six hits, struck out eight and walked one. The only run was scored in the third inning when Brandt drove in Kalie Devine.

Kasson-Mantorville returns to championship game

Kasson-Mantorville won’t get a chance to avenge last year’s championship loss to New Ulm, however, its focus is on claiming the program’s first state title.

The Komets cruised into Friday’s final with 4-1 quarterfinal victory over Hermantown and a 10-0 blowout of Hawley in the semifinals. Junior pitcher Maddie Damon struck out 22 batters and only walked one over 13 innings pitched on Thursday. She also hit a grand slam in the quarterfinals.

Cori Kennedy had three hits and scored two runs for the Komets on the day.

Le Sueur-Henderson rallies past St. Anthony Village

Le Sueur-Henderson rallied past St. Anthony Village on Thursday morning at Caswell Park in North Mankato.

The Giants scored four unanswered runs to win their state tournament debut. They pulled ahead with two runs in the top of the sixth inning behind good base running. A sacrifice bunt drew a throw to first base and allowed Veronica Sinell to score from third base to tie the game. The go-ahead run was scored on a throwing error to home plate that hit base runner Carlie Brandt in the back.

Aiyana Ledwein and Maija Beguhl each had a pair of hits for St. Anthony Village.
