Which do you prefer, high school or club softball? I don’t know if I like one over the other. High school is playing with girls you’ve grown up with. It’s a sisterhood. But when I went to play with the Magic, they opened their arms to me super-wide. We became like a family.

Best softball memory? It would have to be winning state with [the Magic] this year. That was amazing.

What is your strength on the diamond? I think it’s my ability to dive for balls. It’s kind of instinctive. That, and my ability to get on base.

So you don’t mind getting dirty? I don’t mind at all. That’s the best part of the game.

Who is the best player you’ve played against? Probably [North St. Paul’s] Haley Schanks. She’s my biggest role model. Her achievements speak for themselves, and she’s always smiling and super confident.

You play soccer, too. Will you still play this season? Yes, but I admit I haven’t touched a soccer ball since the end of last season.

Be honest — isn’t softball more fun to practice? Soccer practices are always a ton of fun, even if we run a lot. We have great captains and leaders. But I’d rather swing a bat than kick a ball, let’s put it that way.
