One of the best rivalries in high school softball is between Buffalo and Rogers, and there’s plenty at stake when the two meet for the second time this season.

The Mississippi 8 Conference rivals split the league title last season, and they begin this year as postseason foes after moving into the newly created Class 4A, Section 8. The Royals and Bison are also currently ranked No. 5 and No. 10, respectively, in the Class 4A coaches' poll.

Buffalo reached its first state tournament in 2015 after advancing out of Class 3A, Section 6 with a victory over Hopkins. Rogers, meanwhile, was denied a trip to state after falling to Maple Grove in the Class 3A, Section 5 finals.

The Royals edged the Bison 5-4 in this season's first meeting on April 22, and the rematch should be a primer for what's shaping up as a competitive section (with Elk River also among the contenders).

It's just one reason why this matchup between Rogers and Buffalo is our Top Game of the Week.
