Jack Zigan threw a complete game notching 11 strikeouts while allowing one run on three hits to lead Eden Prairie to the Class 4A championship over Forest Lake. Zigan is one of four Eden Prairie players to earn all-tournament team honors. Eden Prairie is the only team to be represented by four players on any of the 2017 baseball all-tournament teams.

Eden Prairie’s Zack Elliot (six hits, four runs), Connor Kehl (one home run, five RBI, three runs scored), and Bailey DeMets (four hits including two triples, six RBI) all made the Class 4A all-tournament team after playing in three games.

Seven other teams are represented by three players, including state champions Waconia, Minnehaha Academy, and Parkers Prairie. Waconia captured the Class 3A title over Hibbing behind a solid pitching performance from Dillon Whittaker, earning him all-tournament honors. Whittaker tossed a complete game, allowing just one run on five hits and recording six strikeouts. In the state tournament, he tallied 16 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched. Alex Logelin and Jacob Hendricks of Waconia were also selected to the all-tournament team. Logelin contributed six hits, including a double and a triple, and scored three runs in the tournament. Hendricks tallied four RBI off five hits in the three games.

Minnehaha Academy defeated Pierz after breaking a 4-4 tie in the top of the seventh inning to earn the title of 2A champions. Bennett Theisen, Justin Evenson, and Alex Evenson represent Minnehaha Academy on the Class 2A all-tournament team. Theisen pitched parts of three games in the tournament, striking out 12 batters while giving up just one run. He also recorded two hits and two RBI. Justin Evenson drove in four runs in three games, going 4-for-10 with a home run. Alex Evenson tallied five RBI off two singles and three doubles in three games and pitched 6 2/3 innings in a tournament win over Maple Lake, striking out 11 batters.

After losing in the championship game last year, Parkers Prairie defeated Legacy Christian to claim the Class 1A title. Levi Arnold, Travis Yohnke, and Andrew Johnson were all selected to the 1A all-tournament team after solid tournament performances. Arnold pitched a complete game in the championship tilt, giving up three runs on six hits with five strikeouts. In the tournament's three games, Arnold struck out 18 batters in 14 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits. Yohnke went 6-for-12 with three extra base hits and a stolen base in the tournament. Johnson contributed five RBI throughout the tournament, batting .600. Johnson also tossed a complete game in a June 16 win over Red Rock Central/Westbook-Walnut Grove, allowing three runs on four hits.
