Pitchers

Kelsey Anderson

Kelsey Anderson | Burnsville | Senior

• Her ability and durability was on display in the Class 3A, Section 3 final. She threw every pitch of the 23 innings needed to decide the winner. The Blaze lost both games by one run, but Anderson was nasty. Struck out 21 batters in a 15-inning marathon game to start things off.

Ashley Walker

Ashley Walker | Shakopee | Senior

• Guided the Sabers to their first state tournament appearance since 1980. Pitched 17 innings over two games in the Section 2 final. In Game 2, she had two home runs and five RBI and thwarted a late rally by Mankato West.

Erica Meyer

Erica Meyer | Totino-Grace | Senior

• Pitched eight consecutive shutouts from May 7-24 and took another into the seventh inning of the Eagles’ second playoff game. That’s a span of 90 innings. Impressive as that is, she was recruited to the Gophers to be a utility infielder after hitting nearly .600 this season.

Treya Connell

Treya Connell | Hastings | Senior

• Finished 15-1 with 159 strikeouts and a 0.73 ERA during the regular season. She also hit .535 with four home runs while only striking out twice. Coach Dean Robinson also raves about her leadership. “She has an impact on this whole team and is the glue that keeps her team together,” he said.

Rebeka Schmidt

Rebekah Schmidt | New Life Academy | Senior

• Looking to lead the Eagles to an unprecedented fourth consecutive Class 1A state championship. Had 181 strikeouts during the regular season, and allowed only one run during the Section 4 tournament. Struck out 18 batters in the semifinals.

Carley Pickett

Carley Pickett | North St. Paul | Junior

• The lefthander led the metro with a regular season ERA of 0.36 while also batting .510 as a slap-hitter for the always-tough Polars. Struck out 97 batters in 74 innings pitched.

Catchers

Hayley Nybo

Hayley Nybo | Hopkins | Senior

• Managed to hit eight home runs this season despite a slow start after having to adjust to pitchers throwing away from her. Briefly batted leadoff when teams were walking her in the No. 3 spot — and hit home runs anyway. Veteran coach Anne Campbell calls her the best hitter in her more than 30 years as a coach.

Taylor LeMay

Taylor LeMay | East Ridge | Junior

 • Proving to be a force for the second-year program. Her instincts behind the plate stand out. Smart in the classroom, too, with a 3.85 GPA.

Jessica Kullman

Jessica Kullman | Park | Senior

• Brought up as a shortstop, but is versatile enough that coaches had no trouble putting her behind the plate. Hit .492 as the team’s leadoff hitter with six doubles and four home runs. Also stole 10 bases.

Fielders

Brittani Robinson

Brittani Robinson | Hastings | Senior

• Solid range and arm strength at shortstop as an all-around athlete. Made just one error. Hit .400 with three home runs and 20 RBI for state-bound Raiders.

Lauren Falkanger

Lauren Falkanger | Bloomington Jefferson | Junior

• Stands out because of her versatility. Fierce competitor is reliable at first base and also steps in to pitch.

Catie Braun

Catie Braun | Minnetonka | Senior

• Led the metro with 10 home runs, which is also a Skippers’ season record. Had three games with multiple home runs and clubbed a walk-off homer in the first round of the Class 3A, Section 6 playoffs.
