You've heard the old saying that records can be thrown out the window come playoff time? So has Forest Lake.
The Rangers came to Caswell Park on Thursday with six losses, the most of any of the eight Class 3A teams. They drew a tough test in the quarterfinals, getting undefeated Totino-Grace.
Forest Lake, though, never wavered in a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Eagles.
Totino-Grace opened the game with three runs in the top of the first. Forest Lake answered with two of its own in the bottom half before going ahead for good in the third. Shannon Nelson led off with a double to center nand later scored on a groundout. Mikayla Watters notched the game-winning hit, an RBI single to center scoring Kailey Hanson.
Taylor Burmeister struck out six in the win. Erica Meyer fanned nine batters in a losing effort.
