Treya Connell

Hastings senior pitcher Treya Connell concluded her prep career in style by winning the Class 3A softball state championship.

The best movie I’ve seen in the past year: My all time favorite movie always has been and always will be Adam Sandler’s “Billy Madison.”

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are: “Lose Yourself” by Eminem; “Famous in a Small Town” by Miranda Lambert; “Settlin’ ” by Sugarland.

Three words my friends or teammates might use to describe me: Goofy; energetic; humble.

What is your favorite meal prior to a game? Panera’s turkey artichoke sandwich, and a bite of Bart’s mac ‘n’ cheese.

Are you a better hitter or pitcher, and why? I really don’t know. I would say I love them both, but pitching is what I am really passionate about.

What was going through your head the night before the championship game? Disbelief yet excitement. I had nothing but complete confidence in my team.

What did you do or what were you thinking when the final out was recorded in the championship game? Everyone asks this question and there is no way to fully explain it. It was unbelievable. It was the greatest feeling ever. I jumped up, threw my glove, and started screaming with excitement. I didn’t know what to do with myself. The jumping, the hugs, the tears of joy, it was absolutely awesome!

What is the best sports advice you ever received? Our team motto: “Nobody said it’d be easy, they said it’d be worth it.”
