Chaska at Bloomington Jefferson
4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 8

Bloomington Jefferson welcomes Chaska in its inagural year in the Metro West Conference .

After losing in the first round in four consecutive 3A state tournaments, Bloomington Jefferson looks to shed the consolation jinx in 2015.

The Jaguars posted a 17-3 record last season, including an 8-2 win over state champion Lakeville South, but fell into old habits with a 2-1 loss to North St. Paul in the state tournament. Class 3A all-state honorable mention Kate Deming recorded 33 hits and 11 stolen bases while hitting .516 last season.

Chaska placed fourth in the Missota Conference last season with a 11-8 overall record and a team batting average of .307. The loss of six seniors left holes in the Hawks' lineup, but the return of junior pitcher Taryn Collins after recovering from ACL surgery should help solidify the defense.

While Bloomington Jefferson had double the wins of Chaska in 2014, the Hawks look to make an impression as the new team on the block.
