North St. Paul at South St. Paul
4:15 p.m., Wednesday, April 8

North and South St. Paul duel for an early lead in the Metro East Conference Standings.

North St. Paul tore through Section 4-AAA playoffs, allowing just six runs in four games, and placed third in the state tournament last season. After losing 10 seniors in the off season, the Polars will look to returning starter Kayla Koemptgen to provide leadership for the young squad.

South St. Paul posted a 13-8 overall record and placed fourth in the Metro East last season. The Swordsmen lost their two main pitchers, Kristyn Waldhauser and Tess DeSmith, and will look for emerging leaders Elise Barnes and Alyssa Gilbert (11 RBI each last year) to provide offense.

As North rebuilds after a massive loss of seniors, South looks to make a jump in the conference standings.
