4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 21

On top of handling most of the pitching duties, Amber Elliot also hit .493 with 17 RBI and two home runs in 21 games for Anoka in 2015.

Makyala Zimmer (.420, 17 RBI) and Laura King (.446, 23 RBI) also return for the Tornadoes, who lost 2-1 to Eastview on a walk-off base hit in the Class 3A title game.

Anoka’s Northwest Suburban Conference foe, Spring Lake Park, boasts a standout pitcher of its own in junior Halley Jones, a first team all-state selection last year.

Jones recorded her 500th career strikeout for the Panthers (3-1, 2-0), on April 16 in a 6-4 victory over Tartan. Spring Lake Park lost their first game of the season 11-1 to Buffalo later in the day at their home tournament.

The Panthers also bring back senior catcher Maddy Iskierka, who has started behind the plate since she was in eighth grade.
