Chanhassen at Bloomington Jefferson

Bloomington Jefferson claimed last year’s Metro West Conference title after beating Chanhassen twice in league play, but that might change this season with all the players the Storm bring back from a successful 2015 campaign.

Chanhassen finished 23-4 and reached the Class 3A state tournament out of Section 2 before losing 2-1 to Woodbury in the consolation title.

The Storm graduated just one senior for last year’s team. Returners include Jessica Bren, a first team all-state selection, who hit .510 with 39 RBI and nine home runs. Bren was one of four players with 30 or more RBI last year.

Juniors Kali O’Keeffe (.538, 8 HR, 38 RBI), Taylor Manno (.393, 6 HR, 35 RBI) and senior Hayley Haakenstad (.543, 31 RBI) also return to a dangerous Chanhassen lineup.

The Storm (2-0, 2-0) have picked up right where they left off with two blowout victories to start the 2016 season, beating Robbinsdale Cooper 13-0 and Bloomington Kennedy 16-0.

Catcher Anne Miller is an all-state honorable mention for Bloomington Jefferson, which has put up striking numbers to start the year as well.

The Jaguars (2-0, 2-0) posted 10 runs in each of their first two games. Miller and Linnea Carlyle have powered the offense with four RBI apiece to start the season.
