Bloomington Jefferson at Benilde-St. Margaret's
4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 26

Bloomington Jefferson hasn’t loosened its grip on the Metro West Conference since claiming last year’s title, beating league runner-up Chanhassen 3-2 on April 22.

Linnea Carlyle leads the No. 2-4A Jaguars (5-2, 4-0) with a .588 batting average and has eight RBI. Anne Miller, an all-state honorable mention selection last year, has five stolen bases and is hitting .353.

Bloomington Jefferson missed making a fifth consecutive state tournament appearance last year after losses to Rosemount and Eagan in the Class 3A, Section 3 playoffs.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s looks to be a contender for the Metro West title this year after finishing third last season, and the No. 2-3A Red Knights (6-1, 3-1) are winning with offense.

Alyssa Brinza has opened the year posting nine RBI and a .615 batting average, while Hattie Hoffman (7 RBI, .375 batting average) and Gwynn Bruce (5 RBI, .389) are driving in runs.

The team has also been aggressive on the base paths, with 27 stolen bases in seven games.
