Forest Lake put together a solid run Saturday at its own Ranger Classic tournament with victories over No. 2-4A Bloomington Jefferson and No. 3-4A Chanhassen by identical 8-3 scores.

The Rangers (5-3, 3-3) have won their last three games and should be well prepared for a rematch against Suburban East Conference rival Woodbury, which won the first meeting 5-0.

The No. 4-4A Royals (4-1, 4-1) dropped their first game of the season last Friday, falling 2-1 at league rival Park of Cottage Grove.

Woodbury senior pitcher Ashley Mickschl returns after posting a 16-6 record and 153 strikeouts a year ago. Mickschl also had 31 RBI and hit .375 for the Royals, who won the Suburban East crown and the Class 3A state tournament consolation title last year.
