A big doubleheader Tuesday afternoon pits Pequot Lakes against Detroit Lakes in a Mid-State Conference matchup.

The defending league co-champion Patriots (7-0, 2-0) have gotten off to another good start after going 21-4 last year and reaching the Class 2A, Section 7 championship.

Kathryn Miska leads No. 5-2A Pequot Lakes with 12 RBI and is hitting .435, while Laura Squires has nine RBI and a .536 batting average.

Miska, a pitcher who was an all-state honorable mention selection last year, has a 7-0 record with 77 strikeouts and a 0.50 ERA in 42 innings this season.

The No. 7-3A Lakers (6-0, 2-0) are off to a great start after finishing third in the conference last year.
