Bloomington Jefferson at Chanhassen
7 p.m., Thursday, May 19

A Bloomington Jefferson and Chanhassen softball game doesn’t need much hype to make it a marquee event but throw in the fact that this meeting will decide the Metro West Conference title, and it quickly becomes one of the biggest games of the year.

But the Jaguars will have to get past Bloomington Kennedy and Richfield first before meeting the Storm, which faces Richfield and Chaska before Thursday's matchup with Jefferson.

The No. 7-4A Jaguars (14-3, 10-0) will prepare to defend their league championship against No. 6-4A Chanhassen (14-2, 9-1) once again after beating the Storm 3-2 on April 22.

Jefferson’s Hailey Martinez outdueled the Chanhassen's Marybeth Olson to get the win. Martinez gave up two runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out three. Olson gave up three runs on 11 hits and struck out seven.

Haley Auel drove in two runs for the Jaguars and went 2-for-3 while Linnea Carlyle went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jefferson hit five doubles in the game.
