Park of Cottage Grove

vs. Forest Lake

4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 2

Park of Cottage Grove and Forest Lake have impressed early, getting off to undefeated starts and helping make the Suburban East Conference one of the state's most competitive leagues.

The Wolfpack finished second in the Suburban East a season ago and they look primed for another big season. Park of Cottage Grove (6-0, 4-0) has scored 10 runs in four of its wins this season, including a 10-0 road win at Cretin-Derham Hall last Saturday.

Senior third baseman Delaney Young was expected to be key to the Wolfpack's success on offense this season. So far, she's delivered. Young went 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI in her team's 10-5 win over Woodbury last Wednesday.

Forest Lake is nipping at the heels of Park in the league standings thanks to a similarly hot start.

The Rangers (6-0, 3-0) have scored 49 runs this season, but their strength is in the circle. Senior pitcher Megan Baniecke has a 0.30 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched this season. At the plate, the St. Thomas commit is hitting .333.

Forest Lake finished a spot behind Park of Cottage Grove in the league standings last season, and the teams seem to be locked in a race again this season.
