The last season was a historic one for Rochester Lourdes. The Eagles, who went 22-3 overall and won the Hiawatha Valley League championship with an 11-0 mark, reached the Class 2A, Section 1 final, where back-to-back 7-2 losses to eventual state champion Zumbrota-Mazeppa ended their year.

That run was fueled by then-junior pitcher Abbey Gapinski, who was a force in the circle and at the plate. She finished the regular season with a 0.93 ERA, 99 strikeouts, 17 walks and a 20-0 record while hitting .300 and recording 20 RBI -- second most on the team.

The Luther College (Decorah, Iowa) commit was rewarded at the end of the season with a spot on the Class 2A all-state team.
