North St. Paul vs.

Hill-Murray

3 p.m., Saturday, May 12

These teams might be competing in different classes this season, but they find themselves beginning the week in the hunt for a Metro East Conference title thanks to undefeated league records.

North St. Paul has won the Metro East each of the past four seasons and is in the mix again this season. The Polars (7-0, 5-0) bring back experience in players such as senior left fielder Aidan Crotty. She's hitting .542 and has three home runs.

Hill-Murray has also been consistently strong in the Metro East, and the Pioneers (5-0, 4-0) hope that experience translates into postseason success after moving down from Class 4A to Class 3A.

Hill-Murray also boasts experience. The No. 9-3A Pioneers return their entire starting infield from last season, including senior second baseman Anna Newton. On May 1, Newton went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI as Hill-Murray defeated St. Anthony 6-0.
