Bloomington Jefferson

vs. Chanhassen

(Doubleheader)

4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 9

This doubleheader features highly regarded foes jockeying for a top spot in the Metro West Conference standings.

Bloomington Jefferson (7-5, 5-1) has secured at least a share of the Metro West championship each of the past two seasons, and last year the Jaguars split the title with Chanhassen. The Storm ended up with the last laugh, however, as they won the Class 4A, Section 2 title while the Jaguars were bounced from the bracket after losing their first two postseason games.

This season, Bloomington Jefferson is once again in the mix for a conference title as the Jaguars are just a game behind Chanhassen (9-1, 8-0) in the loss column.

Though Bloomington Jefferson graduated its top pitcher and catcher from a season ago, the Jaguars have key veteran returners, such as senior shortstop Lizzy Walker. In 12 games this season, Walker is hitting .528 and has 12 stolen bases.

The No. 5-4A Storm enter as league favorites thanks to the work of senior pitcher Maddie Schwartz, a Wisconsin commit who has thrived in the circle and at the plate. In 43 innings pitched, Schwartz has allowed just seven earned runs and recorded 64 strikeouts. She is also hitting .622 and has 20 RBI on the season.
