New Ulm Cathedral vs. Sleepy Eye St. Mary's

(Doubleheader)

4:30 p.m., Thursday, May 10

This doubleheader will go a long way in determining the Tomahawk Conference champion and Class 1A, Section 2 seeding.

New Ulm Cathedral won the Tomahawk crown a season ago but suffered a 16-1 defeat against Sleepy Eye St. Mary's in the section tournament before being eliminated by Mankato Loyola three days later.

The Greyhounds (7-0, 4-0) are off to another strong start this season thanks to their firepower at the plate. They are averaging nearly seven runs per game this season and are led by junior center fielder Lauryn Franta, an all-state selection a year ago.

The Knights also have plenty of offensive accomplishments to brag about. Sleepy Eye St. Mary's (10-4, 4-0) is averaging 10.6 runs per game and is led by senior catcher Ali Beltz. On May 4, Beltz went 3-for-4 with a RBI as the No. 2-1A Knights defeated Maple River 12-3.
