Prior Lake vs. Eastview

4:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 15

These teams have risen to the top of the standings in a stacked South Suburban Conference, and their matchup on Tuesday will go a long way in determining which wins the league title.

Prior Lake has been the class of the South Suburban, but stubbed its toe last Saturday, falling to No. 6-4A New Prague 5-3. Prior Lake (11-1, 10-0) will look to shake off the loss and ensure it secures its third consecutive conference crown by winning its three remaining league contents this week.

The No. 1-4A Lakers enter this matchup with one of the state's top players in pitcher Kailey Ahlstrom. The senior struck out seven in a 4-2 victory over Eagan on May 9 and may need another big performance from the circle to hold Eastview at bay.

The Lightning are nipping at the Lakers' heels in the league standings and could lock up its first league championship since 2015 with victories in their final three conference games.

While Eastview returned seven starters, the No. 7-4A Lightning (14-2, 10-1) has been led by freshman infielder Jenna Kuhn. She's been on a tear at the plate this season with a .453 batting average, five doubles and 14 RBI. Her hot hitting could help the Lightning shock the Lakers and keep Eastview from shorting out in the league title chase.
