Other games to keep an eye on

Shakopee vs. Chanhassen, 7 p.m., Friday, May 17: Shakopee (10-6, 7-4) meets No. 8-4A Chanhassen (12-2, 4-1) in an early introduction to section tournament play that could be a preview to the Class 4A, Section 2 championship.

Northfield vs. Faribault, 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 14: This game is for position near the top of the hotly contested Big 9 Conference, but it matters more for momentum heading into the section tournaments. No. 3-3A Northfield (9-1 8-1), looking for its first state tournament berth, has Winona standing in its way in Class 3A, Section 1; defending Class 3A state champion No. 2-3A Faribault (16-1, 11-1) has Mankato West in its path in Section 2.
