And the winner is...MN Softball Hub Top Performer revealed

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Softball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Haley Ellefson, Chanhassen. The junior pitcher had solid outings in four games last week — helping the Storm extend a winning streak to eight games. Ellefson pitched 11 innings in wins against Wayzata (15-5 on May 7) and Robbinsdale Cooper (11-0 on May 10), as she allowed one earned run and averaged fewer than one hit per inning. At the plate, Ellefson went 9-for-13 with four home runs and 17 RBI in the four wins.

Top performer candidates

Ava Dueck, Maple Grove. The senior pitcher continued her impressive season last week with two shutout wins — a 4-0 win against Osseo on May 7 followed by a 3-0 victory over Blaine on May 9. Dueck tossed seven innings and gave up five hits in each game, and she finished with a total of 16 strikeouts. Dueck also recorded three hits, including a double and a home run, in the wins.

Karin Hayford, Rochester Lourdes. In a 12-4 win against Rockford on May 10, the sophomore outfielder tallied season-highs in hits (five), doubles (three), and RBI (four) to lead the Eagles' offense. 

Abby Miles, Rochester John Marshall. The sophomore pitched in three of the Rockets' six wins last week, as she tossed 12 consecutive scoreless innings in victories over Kasson-Mantorville (9-0 on May 7) and Pine Island (12-0 on May 10). Miles gave up three runs in her final outing of the week, a 5-3 win over Austin. She tallied 24 strikeouts throughout the week, and at the plate, she collected six hits, including three doubles and two home runs, and five RBI.

Ella Schmidt, Southwest Christian. The sophomore pitched seven innings in the Stars' 2-1 win against West Lutheran on May 6 — breaking Southwest Christian's 10-game losing streak. Schmidt allowed one unearned run on two hits and struck out a season-high 13 batters.
