Top performer winner

Caitlin Hinz, Monticello. The pitcher allowed just two earned runs through 17 consecutive innings last week in wins over Sartell-St. Stephen (7-1), St. Michael-Albertville (2-1) and St. Cloud Apollo (12-2). Hinz gave up an average of less than one hit per inning in those three games, and she tallied 22 strikeouts (her 152 strikeouts this season rank seventh in the state). At the plate, the junior recorded four hits — three of them home runs — and five RBI on the week.

Top performer candidates

McKayla Armbruster, Faribault. The senior pitcher, who leads the state in both wins (17) and strikeouts (292), finished the regular season with more stellar pitching — tossing 17 total innings in wins against Northfield (1-0) and Rochester Mayo (5-1) last week. Armbruster allowed one unearned run on five hits and struck out 34 batters. In the Falcons' shutout win against Northfield, Armbruster also recorded the lone RBI.

Josie Dorf, East Ridge. In a 7-6 win against Park of Cottage Grove on May 14, the senior led her team with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Dorf hit a double and a home run, and she finished with five RBI.

Maddie Hanson, Bemidji. The junior pitcher earned back-to-back wins last week — a 1-0 victory over International Falls on May 13 and, the next day, an 11-1 final against Duluth East. Hanson struck out three batters in her seven-inning, one-hit win against International Falls. Against the Greyhounds, she tossed five innings — allowing one run on one hit and recording three strikeouts.

Caitlin Hinz, Monticello. The pitcher allowed just two earned runs through 17 consecutive innings last week in wins over Sartell-St. Stephen (7-1), St. Michael-Albertville (2-1) and St. Cloud Apollo (12-2).
