And the winner is...MN Softball Hub Top Performer revealed

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Softball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Grace Mammen, Rogers. The senior pitcher recorded three scoreless appearances last week, pitching 15 shutout innings for the Royals. Mammen pitched three hitless innings during an 18-0 April 27 rout of Totino-Grace, recording nine strikeouts. She then tallied 11 strikeouts in five innings on April 29 as the Royals (9-1, 5-1) defeated Spring Lake Park 10-0, allowing two hits and one walk. The next night, Mammen pitched seven innings, giving up just one run and striking out 17 batters as the Royals defeated Orono 1-0.

Top performer candidates

Morgan Eckes, Pequot Lakes. The junior pitched consecutive seven-inning, 14-strikeout wins last week.  The Patriots (9-4, 4-0) defeated Aitkin 10-1 on April 27 as Eckes allowed one run on three hits and two walks. With a nearly identical stat line during the Patriots' 9-1 victory against Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale on April 30, Eckes gave up one run and two walks on two hits. At the plate, she contributed two hits in each game, including one home run in each, and six total RBIs.

Mikaela Girard, Northfield. The senior led the Raiders’ 8-1 win on April 29 at Mankato West. Girard recorded a season-high five RBIs, hitting two home runs — her second and third of the season — to pace the Raiders’ (8-2, 7-0) offense.

Ellaina Novak, Tri-City United. The junior led the Titans’ (4-7, 3-5) explosive offense on April 27 that snapped a six-game losing streak. Novak hit three home runs — two of which were grand slams — in a 5-for-5 night, recording 11 RBIs as the Titans defeated Mayer Lutheran 30-13 in the first game of a doubleheader. On April 29, Novak pitched seven innings en route to an 8-2 victory against Sibley East. Novak allowed two unearned runs on five hits while striking out six batters.

Siri Springer, Mounds Park Academy. The sophomore pitcher had an impressive April, allowing just four runs to score through 23 innings during five Panthers wins. Last week, Springer led the Panthers to a 13-1 win at Blake on April 26 and a 12-0 victory against Breck on April 28. At Blake, Springer pitched five innings, striking out eight batters while allowing one run on four hits. At the plate, she went 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs. Against Breck, Springer pitched two hitless innings, recording four strikeouts. She hit a double and a triple and scored a run, leading the Panthers (5-0, 4-0) with four RBIs.
