Top performer winner

Chloe Barber, White Bear Lake. The junior is already dominating the 2022 season in three early Bears wins. Against Mounds View on April 7, Barber pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit while recording 17 strikeouts in the 5-0 win. On April 11, Barber pitched another seven-inning game, allowing one run on a home run while striking out nine East Ridge batters in the 7-1 victory. Barber added another eight strikeouts and gave up just one hit on April 13 in three innings of the Bears’ 11-0 victory against Roseville. At the plate, Barber has recorded four hits through the three games, including two home runs and seven RBIs.

Addie Bowers, St. James. If the Saints’ season-opening win at Jackson County Central is any indication, Bowers has two more bright years of high school softball ahead of her. The junior pitched seven innings in the 2-0 victory, allowing just two hits and recording 17 strikeouts.

Maddie Cocker, Byron. The Bears have leaned on the senior pitcher in their first three games, and for good reason. Cocker has pitched 15 innings through those three games, giving up three earned runs on two hits in the Bears’ 5-3 victory against Kasson-Mantorville on April 13. But She allowed no hits or runs as the Bears shut out Random Lake 5-0 and Shiocton 19-0, both on April 9. Cocker has 31 strikeouts through 15 innings. At the plate, she’s recorded five hits — including two doubles and a triple — and six RBIs.

Jessa Snippes, Rosemount. The junior pitcher has continued her successes of last year over to the Irish’s first two games of 2022, pitching 11 scoreless innings between the Irish’s 6-0 victory against Eagan on April 11 and their 10-0 win against Burnsville on April 15. During those two wins, Snippes gave up three hits while recording 30 strikeouts. In the victory against Burnsville, she hit a home run and recorded two RBIs.

Bethany Weiss, Forest Lake. The junior catcher drove in all but one of the Rangers’ runs on April 11, leading the 7-3 win at Park of Cottage Grove. Weiss went 2-for-3, hitting a triple and a home run. She also recorded a sacrifice fly and tallied six RBIs on the Rangers’ seven runs.
