And the winner is...MN Softball Hub Top Performer revealed

See who fans voted as the top performer from May 9-14.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Softball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Kyllie Weingart, Maranatha. Weingart led the Mustangs’ perfect week as they earned four wins in four consecutive days and outscored opponents by a combined score of 50-18. The junior went 11-for-14, including eight extra-base hits, two of which were home runs, and drew two walks. Weingart drove in 20 of the Mustangs’ 50 runs on the week.

Top performer candidates

Chloe Barber, White Bear Lake. The junior pitcher was in the circle for three of the Bears’ four wins last week, including two shutouts. Barber pitched 20 innings between the three games, including a perfect six innings in the Bears’ 11-0 victory against Irondale as part of a doubleheader on May 11. Barber didn't allow any hits, but she walked two batters in the 9-0 victory at Park of Cottage Grove on May 10. She then allowed two earned runs on six hits in a 7-2 victory against Forest Lake on May 12. Barber collected 43 total strikeouts was also perfect at the plate in those three games, going 9-for-9 with 12 total RBIs and two home runs in each game.

Kaitlyn Geschwill, Pequot Lakes. The junior pitched in two shutout wins for the Patriots last week, the first against Crosby-Ironton on May 10. Geschwill tossed 61 pitches in five innings, striking out five batters and allowing one hit in the 11-0 win. At Royalton on May 13, Geschwill pitched all seven innings of the 4-0 victory, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out 16 batters on 87 pitches.

Kylinn Stangl, Mankato East. The freshman pitcher tossed a two-hit shutout at Red Wing on May 11. Stangl threw 77 strikes on 112 total pitches, walking three batters while recording 17 strikeouts. The Cougars defeated Red Wing 6-0.

Claire Tessum, PACT/Legacy Christian. The sophomore put up one impressive hitting performance in the Panthers’ 12-6 victory against Breck on May 12, driving in over half of her team's runs. Tessum hit for the cycle and added a second double in her 5-for-5 day, recording seven RBIs and adding a stolen base.
