Rowan Smith, Simley. The sophomore provided the juice the Spartans needed to defeat Tartan in a back and forth 11-6 contest. Smith connected at three of her four at bats, including five RBIs and a clutch home run.
Brenna Koeppel, St. Charles. Koeppel kicked off her season in style, tallying 10 strikeouts in a 10-0 win over Wabasha-Kellogg on April 6. The senior turned up the heat her next time out against Dover-Eyota. Koeppel struck out 17 batters on her way to a complete game shutout.
Alyssa Sand, Albany. The Huskies got a big game out of their versatile junior against Holdingford on April 12. Sand was efficient at the plate, hitting on all four of her at bats. She racked up six RBIs, including a home run that sealed the 10-0 win.
Addison Wallschlaeger, Spectrum. Wallschlaeger started her freshman season with some flair. She pitched all seven innings in the Sting's 10-1 win over Southwest Christian, totaling 12 strikeouts. Her defensive effort was on top of her impressive four hits, including three singles and two stolen bases.
Aune Boben, Hibbing. It was a complete performance from Boben that led her Bluejackets to a 5-0 opening day win over Rock Ridge on April 13. She tossed a complete game shutout with 12 strikeouts, but it was Boben's home run that topped off a quality win early in the Bluejackets' season.
