Top performer winner

Megan Smith, Minneapolis Southwest. The junior was explosive in the Lakers' first conference game of the season and led the way in a 22-3 win over Minneapolis Washburn on April 19. She connected on all four of her at bats to the tune of three home runs and eight RBIs. Smith helped spur a high-flying second inning for the Lakers that saw them put up 16 runs.

Top performer candidates

Makayla Steffes, Winona. The St. Mary's commit has helped the Winhawks to a perfect 5-0 start to the season with a strong performance in a 14-1 win over Rochester Century on April 18. She pitched all seven innings, striking out 11 batters. But Steffes was especially effective at the plate, driving in two runs off two hits and a home run.

Maddy Walsh, Proctor. Walsh is proving early in the 2023 season that she can be dynamic on both offense and defense. She was the difference maker in the Rails' 5-2 win over Bemidji on April 18, as she pitched all seven innings and racked up 15 strikeouts. However, Walsh's highlight plays came at the plate. She smashed two hits against Bemidji – both home runs.

Brooke Johnson, Crosby-Ironton. The Rangers got their first win of 2023 on April 18 in a tight 14-13 contest against Detroit Lakes that went down to the wire. Johnson went 4-for-5 at the plate, including a double and triple that helped her tally five RBIs.

MacKenzie Olsen, Marshall. The catcher was a key player in the Tigers' 18-8 victory over Worthington on April 18. She was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, putting up three RBIs. Olsen swung for power, plating a triple and home run that urged the Tigers to a win in their conference opener.
