As players waited near their dugouts for pregame introductions to begin, Randolph pitcher Carter Raymond delivered the softball bowling-style to the infield circle. The ball came to a rest on the rubber. A perfect strike, and an indication of things to come in Thursday's Class 1A, Section 4 softball championship game at the University of Northwestern in Roseville.

Raymond, a sophomore who entered the game with a 0.79 ERA, struck out 13 batters and picked up her fourth shutout of the section tournament as Randolph earned its way back to the Class 1A state tournament for the fifth consecutive time with a 3-0 victory over West Lutheran.
