QUICK Q&A: SARAH LEACH, VISITATION SENIOR

The best movie I've seen in the last year? "The Hunger Games."

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Competitive; passionate; empathetic.

How do you balance school and sports during the year? I think having a sport helped me balance my homework because it gave me a specific time I had to do my homework. Whenever I had a couple weeks in between sports, I wouldn't know what to do with my time, and kept putting off my homework until later in the night, and I never finished it.

What is your favorite pregame meal? Subway.

What is your goal for this year's softball team? To go to state because we were one game away last year.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... very nervous because the team was so close I did not think I would fit in. But at the end of the season I was a part of the team. [Leach's first varsity practice was in hockey as an eighth-grader].

Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why? I love watching Gopher softball, but truthfully I have an obsession with gymnastics.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? You will never get another opportunity like high school sports. To try to go to state with girls you love, so put your whole heart out there, and play for the girls next to you. Because in the end, it doesn't matter what your stats are, it matters the memories you create during those games because those will last a lifetime.
