Blooming Prairie doesn't have to settle for runner-up anymore. The Awesome Blossoms defeated New Life Academy 3-1 in Friday afternoon's Class 1A state championship game at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
The victory makes up for a championship-game defeat to Cherry a year ago.
New Life Academy scored first, but Blooming Prairie scored three in the fifth inning to pull away.
