The senior-to-be finished the recently completed high school season with a 9-2 record as a pitcher. She’s now playing third base for the Minnesota Sting 18-U Elite team.

What position do you prefer? I’ve been pitching since [12-under] softball. I really like pitching a lot.

Why softball? I just love it. It takes a lot of skills — hitting the ball, seeing a pitch coming. I love being on a team and meeting new people.

What is the most nerve-racking experience in softball? Tie game or being down by one, you’re up to bat and there’s two outs.

Best softball memory? Probably the first time I got to wear the Sting uniform. It’s an honor to play competitively for them.

Why? The competition is the best, the coaching is great, it’s highly competitive and there are always college coaches there. It makes you always want to give 110 percent.

Best high school memory? This season we beat Stillwater, the returning state champs, 1-0. And we beat Lakeville North 1-0. It was a big upset. I pitched in both games.

Any superstitions? My socks. I keep them halfway down my leg. I never have them fully up. They get all bunched up at the bottom and people laugh, but it just helps me.

How much of your summer is spent playing softball? Most of it. I play five, six, seven days a week, between practicing at home and being with the team.

Ultimate goal? Play college softball. I would like to go D-I if I could. Maybe even get the chance to play on TV some day.
