Highlights: May 22-26

In the bottom of the sixth inning, STMA trailed 5-2 but drove in five runs to defeat Elk River 7-5.

May 22

Eagan 7, Apple Valley 2. Apple Valley scored two runs in the top of the fifth to make the score 3-2, but Eagan rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead and earn the win. Halle Mcguire hit a home run for Eagan, and collected three RBI in the game. Teammate Taylor Luecke went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Pitcher Alyssa Jollife earned the win and struck out four. Apple Valley’s Sabriya Passmore went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jaycee Lentz also doubled and tallied an RBI.

May 23

St. Michael-Albertville 7, Elk River 5. The Knights trailed 5-2 going into the bottom of the sixth, but exploded for five runs to take the lead and the win. Brooke Burditt ignited the Knights' offense with a home run and had three RBI, and teammate Maren Hamann had a double and two RBI. Burditt also shined on the mound, earning the win with seven innings pitched and three strikeouts. Annie Volkers led the Elk River offense going 3-for-4 with a double, and Kincaid Strain went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Pitcher Haley Ullrich struck out eight for the Elks.

Woodbury 6, Cretin-Derham Hall 2. Woodbury scored early and often to get the victory over Suburban East Conference rival Cretin-Derham Hall. Ashley Mickschl hit a home run for the Royals, and teammate Shannon Motzko went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Ally Hjort earned the win on the mound pitching 6 ⅓ innings and recorded nine strikeouts. Kennedy Spiering supplied the offense for the Raiders, hitting a home run and collecting two RBI. Madelynn Morrison contributed with a double.

May 24

Shakopee 5, Burnsville 4. Shakopee trailed the whole game but came through in the top of the seventh inning with four runs to take a 5-4 lead against Burnsville. Kayla Hokanson led the Sabers with a double, two RBI and a stolen base. Teammate Sarah Jakovleski also had a double and an RBI. Pitcher Lauren Lindahl earned the win and struck out six. Burnsville Pitcher Megan Osterhaus had a strong game on the mound as well as in the batter’s box. Osterhaus struck out nine batters, and also hit a home run for the Blaze. Sawyer Brewster went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Prior Lake 2, Chaska 1. The game was tied 1-1, but in the bottom of the sixth inning Prior Lake scored a run to take the lead. Jasmine Ziegler went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Abby Sagert also drove in a run. Pitcher Kailey Ahlstrom was dominant on the mound pitching seven innings, recording 11 strikeouts and giving up three hits in the win. Hayley Haas managed to get two of the three hits for Chaska, and Sydney Swenson had the other one. Rylee Collins pitched a complete game and struck out three.

May 25

St. Cloud Tech 12, Brainerd 9. Brainerd scored quick and made it 4-0 going into the fifth inning, but St. Cloud Tech answered with seven runs. Brainerd tied it in the next half inning, and the teams would each score two more runs to make the game 9-9. The Tiger offense came through in the top of the ninth with three runs to take the lead and ultimately the game. Reagen Lyle was unstoppable for the Tigers going 5-for-5 with a home run, a triple, a double and had four RBI. Maris Hall went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Katie Hinkemeyer earned the win on the mound. Kylie Lange led the Warrior offense going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Teammate Claire Ceynowa contributed as well, going 3-for-5 and had three RBI.

Minnetonka 1, Burnsville 0. In a low-scoring game, Minnetonka only needed its one run in the first inning to log the win. Minnetonka’s Hope Blackford had the lone RBI, and teammate Quinne Johnson went 2-for-2. Pitcher Kristy Peka pitched a complete game giving up six hits and striking out eight. Burnsville’s Angela Wollmuth and Sawyer Brewster each went 2-for-3. Pitcher Megan Osterhaus surrendered only two hits and struck out seven in the losing effort.

 

May 26

Woodbury 6, North St. Paul 0. No.4-4A Woodbury sprinkled its offensive output throughout the game to earn the win over North St. Paul. Shannon Motzko sparked the Royals offense going 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. Cam Veenbaas went 2-for-4 and drove in a run. Pitcher Ashley Mickschl went all seven innings giving up only two hits and striking out nine. Megan Rubbelke doubled for North St. Paul, and Kallie Stepaniak went 1-for-3.
