Bulldogs rally to beat defending 1A champs

LESTER PRAIRIE/HOLY TRINITY 5, NEW LIFE ACADEMY 4: The Bulldogs (4-1) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, rallying to beat the Class 1A three-time defending state champion Eagles (2-1). One of the runs scored on a wild pitch from New Life Academy’s Rebekah Schmidt, who gave up five hits while striking out 14 but took the loss. Winning pitcher Rachel Heuer gave up seven hits.

NORTHFIELD 8, CHANHASSEN 5: Hannah Pilger belted her second home run of the day, a three-run shot in the top of the ninth, lifting the Raiders over the Storm in the Missota. Pilger finished with seven RBI on three hits.

SPRING LAKE PARK 16, FRIDLEY 0: Senior Kaitlyn Luedtke had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with four runs scored as the Panthers moved to 2-0 in North Suburban play with a big win over the Tigers.

TOTINO-GRACE 12, COOPER 0: Senior Erica Meyer threw a five-inning no-hitter as the Eagles shut out the Hawks.  She used great control of all three of her pitches to register 11 strikeouts.  Meyer also went 3-for-3 at the plate.

CONCORDIA ACADEMY 28, BROOKLYN CENTER 3: Senior catcher Jaci Fagan had five hits, including a grand slam, and drove in eight runs as the Beacons beat the Centaurs in the Tri-Metro.
