Last-inning heroics sent Chisago Lakes to extras and the win

CHISAGO LAKES 2, ST. FRANCIS 1: Trailing 1-0 in their last at-bat, junior Miranda Beimert singled in the tying run for the Wildcats, sending the game into extra innings. One frame was all the Wildcats needed to score again, as senior Danielle Tossey drove in the eventual game-winning run with a hit in the eighth inning to beat the Saints in a North Suburban matchup on Tuesday.

ANOKA 2, MAPLE GROVE 1: Sophomore pitcher Hailee Gifford threw a four-hitter while striking out 10, leading the Tornadoes past the Crimson in the Northwest Suburban. Anoka gave Gifford all the support she needed in the first inning, scoring both runs.

HOWARD LAKE-WAVERLY-WINSTED 1, MAPLE LAKE 0: Junior Sam Stender threw a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts as the Lakers shut out the Irish.

PARK CENTER 8, ANDOVER 1: In her first varsity action, eighth-grader Hannah Schaub made a big impact, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored as the Pirates defeated the Huskies in the Northwest Suburban. Junior Megan VanHulzen added two hits and two RBI for the Huskies, who improved to 3-2 with the victory.

TOTINO-GRACE 10, SPRING LAKE PARK 0: Senior pitcher Erica Meyer hit her first home run of the season while tossing a shutout with 13 strikeouts in the Eagles’ victory over the Panthers in the North Suburban. Senior Jordan Rice went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI for Totino-Grace.
